I'm interested in how we utilize social spaces in urban centres, from carefully sanctioned and designed spaces to ephemeral practices and festivals. This website highlights the ways in which public space is used and documented through photography. Mapping C7 was an exploratory project, documenting the downtown core of Abbotsford, which is a relatively small area in a state of transition. I try to capture places in transition and liminal space, such as the demolition of a building, or an empty lot, as well as the evidence of homelessness in the community landscape. Urban space is a sanctioned environment, carefully controlled by social forces and constructed by subtle influences. Its transformation and carefully controlled environments influence how we engage in our community and with one another.
